Three Year Anniversary

Written by:

Three months since the last update and I’ve just passed the three year anniversary of flying to Korea to start RTW trip #2. I have no excuse for the lack of updating, really as I’ve been spending my time on my recent move, fixing up my new place, getting caught up in TV shows and celebrity gossip, work and buying a new computer. If its any consolation I often think “I should finally write that post about my couchsurfing experiences” or “why haven’t I posted all the funny notes that I took the first three months I got back from my trip?” I then write those thought down in an ever-expanding to-do list that I glance at every once in a while.

My new computer is a 13″ MacBook Pro. Although I was using a Mac Tower since I got back from traveling this is my first new computer since my iBook died in Kenya. I was hoping to use the green InCase sleeve my iBook traveled around the world in (and to which I obviously have a sentimental attachment to) but the new MacBooks are larger than the iBooks so it doesn’t fit. I’m finding that a lot of the things that I had before and during my RTW trips are starting to wear out or become obsolete. I still use my second generation iPod sometimes but my iPhone is much more handy even if it doesn’t hold as much music. My last RTW trip ended in 2007 so I shouldn’t be surprised that time marches on.

If anyone is looking for interesting travel sites to read, David (who I couchsurfed with in Urumqi, China) is heading back to Central Asia for the summer. His updates are always insightful and are worth the wait. He’s been kind enough to take some photos of mine to mail in Tajikistan and I’m hoping he makes it across the Pamir Highway himself so he can see the beautiful scenery and kind people (and so I can get a first-hand account of my photos arriving!).

Congrats on the milestone. I hear you on the list of pending blog entries– it’s not like I don’t have the time either.

Had the privilege of visiting Chicago in April for a couple days during my cross-country trip from Washington State to West Virginia. I’m not kidding when I tell you that every person I encountered (in restaurants, the hotel, everywhere) were super-friendly. Even got to go to a White Sox game because as luck would have it the Mariners were in town. Ate at Portillos as well because I remember you mentioning it in one of your entries. See I could write an entire entry about Chicago on my blog but will I?

    Stacy,

You should have looked me up in Chicago! I’m always looking for a good excuse for Portillos. Too bad you had to see a Sox game instead of Cubs (but we won’t get into that).

You could write an entire story about Chicago. Perhaps that should be you assignment over the weekend… write at least one of your pending blog entries.
