One of Chicago’s largest events every year is the Air & Water Show. I’ve never been and decided this would be the year that I set off to join more than one million other people sitting along the lakefront. Saturday afternoon a friend and I decided to head up to Montrose Beach to watch, probably the farthest North you could go and still see the planes. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed with cyclists and ice cream men pedaling by on the concrete path that curves around the lakefront. I think you need to brave the crowds at North Avenue Beach to really experience the show because the planes were diving around the skyscrapers and buzzing the lakefront so low that it was hard to see from far away. I took some photos which you can view here in the gallery.
