Saturday afternoon was spent in a cleared out storage room in the back of a record store watching Steve Wiebe attempt to regain the world championship title in Donkey Kong. Watching someone play Donkey Kong for two hours isn’t as boring as you’d think, but I still can’t get the soundtrack out of my head.
You’ll notice a video camera and microphone in the image below, both important for a legal record attempt. Before beginning a cameraman videotaped around the entire console, inspected the circuit boards and video taped Wiebe announcing his name and the date. What an odd little subculture.

Those vimeo videos are awesome!
Thanks, I love these kind of events. So odd, but entertaining and free.
Do you realize that I was standing in there for three hours altogether? It was worse on my back and feet than a concert.
OMG! That’s awesome! I loved the King of Kong documentary about him, and I’m so jealous that you got to watch this. So weird 🙂
